Firmware Engineer
Job Responsibilities
- Conceive new technology and new product ideas and initiate projects with novel and cutting-edge solutions.
- Analyze architectural and system engineering requirements for embedded systems.
- Collaborate with the hardware design team in the areas of product specification, electrical design, and development of electronics, sensors, telecommunications, and embedded systems and test software to release new flow monitoring systems.
- Create prototypes to demonstrate minimum viable product and new technology concepts.
- Design, write, and perform test firmware for electronic and electromechanical equipment under development.
- Create test plans to troubleshoot and find root cause of problems encountered during alpha and beta testing, and with products already released, including some legacy products.
- Support sustaining engineering to continuously improve sensor accuracy and performance.
- Create embedded systems firmware to support core device operations and communications.
- Create a knowledge database to preserve technical IP and instruct team members on processes to maintain competitive advantage and stability.
- Interact with cross-functional teams, commercial partners, and research collaborators.
Requirements
- A minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Computer Science combined with the minimum experience described below; or an Associate Degree in Electronics combined with 15 years of experience in firmware design and including the minimum experience described below.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, with full lifecycle experience in the following: Firmware architectures, preferably with intelligent sensor and software for remote monitoring applications, RTOS development for embedded systems using highly integrated SoC chipsets, development tools, emulators, and debuggers, Coding experience using C and C#, .NET, Experience with embedded IoT security preferred.
Qualifications
Works as part of an innovative hardware design team to provide advanced embedded firmware for a leading IoT (Internet of Things) instrumentation company. Perform technology research for developing novel flow monitoring products. Work with a highly motivated and focused team to release products on-time and on-quality.
