About the role
The Firmware Engineer is part of the Hardware team and reports to the Head of Electronics Development.
Responsibilities
- Design embedded applications for microcontroller, DSP, PLD, and communication modems.
- Analyze customer needs and determine firmware system requirements; recommend embedded platforms and drive implementation of the intended functionality.
- Develop maintenance and testing procedures for firmware releases.
- Responsible for the firmware development of new features and products (from feasibility studies and POCs up to released products).
- Deliver as planned an integral firmware solution (specification, design, implementation, testing).
- Develop and conduct necessary tests for validation/qualification of (sub-)systems.
- Support production in testbench development.
- Maintain the existing firmware architecture throughout the entire product life-cycle.
- Participate in the continuous improvement activities of company’s products and services.
- Perform code and design reviews, root cause analyses, and implement best practices.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal departments.
Requirements
Specific skills
- Hands-on experience in embedded code development (C, C++) for data acquisition, digital signal processing, and real-time measurements.
- Experience with several mainstream microcontrollers, DSP, and communication platforms: Atmel, Tellit, Texas Instruments, Motorola, u-Blox.
- Skills in CAD Schematic and PCB Layout design (Altium, Mentor Graphics).
- Experience with automated testing and testbench platforms (GoogleTest).
- Experience with DMA and memory management (FIFO, DRAM).
- Experience in programming communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, AXI) and other peripherals.
- Version control (Git), linting tools, scripting skills, and ticket tracking (Jira).

- Comfortable with troubleshooting and root cause analyses.
- Good written and verbal communication (EN, FR) and presentation skills.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent successful experience in a similar role.
- 3–5 years of experience in development of electronic firmware design within an industrial company.
