Fireside Market Store Cashier - Carter

Responsibilities

• Greets customers as they enter the store in a friendly and positive manner.
• Provides best-in-class customer service; answers questions and resolves complaints.
• Operates the cash register, handles cash, and makes change.
• Receives merchandise; restocks shelves, coolers, and freezer items.
• Displays merchandise in accordance with established policies and procedures; maintains merchandise display per company standards.
• Follows all safety rules and maintains a safe work environment by keeping the store clear of debris, stumbling hazards, wet floors, etc.
• Performs general housekeeping and is responsible for the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the store.
• Performs general snow removal as needed.
• Checks in vendor deliveries.

Requirements

• Three months’ related experience in cash handling or cashiering preferred.
• Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Must obtain WI Class and WI Tobacco Check certificate prior to the first scheduled shift on the cash register.
• Valid WI driver’s license preferred but not required.
• Must have excellent people skills and be available to work flexible shifts and extended hours.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Preferred: High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.

Skills

• Knowledge of basic cash management procedures.
• Knowledge of retail floor sales techniques.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Knowledge of store products.
• Knowledge of POS systems and processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, train, and establish a high level of customer service within the department.
• Merchandising skills is a plus.

Working Conditions

• Regularly required to stand, use hands to handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
• Frequently required to walk.
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Work is generally performed in an interior work environment and kitchen area with exposure to heat, fumes, and steam.
• Evening, graveyard, holiday, and/or weekend work may be required.
• Extended hours and irregular shifts will be required.
• Frequent interaction with the public.
