Firefighter - Lateral(Transfer)

Responsibilities
- Responds to emergency medical calls and fire alarms
- Fights fires and rescues trapped individuals
- Administers emergency medical care and CPR
- Conducts salvage operations and cleans up after fires
- Maintains fire equipment and facilities
- Performs fire prevention duties and educates the public on fire safety
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Firefighter II certification (240 CARD)
- Paramedic Certification
- Currently in the OP &F OR OPERS pension system
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job
- Availability to work shift assignments
Qualifications
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant for the position. Examples of acceptable qualifications include:
- A high school diploma or GED
- Firefighter II (240 CARD) and Paramedic Certification
- Currently in the OP &F OR OPERS pension system
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job
- Availability to work shift assignments
Skills
- Knowledge of firefighting and emergency medical skills
- Ability to learn technical firefighting and emergency rescue/emergency medical principles and techniques
- Physical strength and endurance to perform strenuous tasks under hazardous conditions
- Sound and prompt judgment in emergency situations
