Firefighter

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, medical and other emergency calls as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance on firefighting equipment and property to ensure it is always in good working condition.
• Perform regular inspections of fire hydrants, extinguishers, firefighting equipment, and other life-saving equipment to ensure they are in proper working order in all East Alton Wieland facilities.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on firefighting techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Work collaboratively with other emergency response teams.
• Perform duties with a high level of integrity, responsibility, and commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A two (2) year college or university degree is preferred but not required.
• Firefighter Certification from at least one of the following: Illinois State Fire Marshal – Firefighter II, or Illinois State Fire Marshal – Basic Firefighter Operations, or IFSAC/Pro-Board Certification – Industrial Firefighter.
• Valid Driver’s License (Class B) with a clean driving record.
• EMT/EMR License through the Illinois Department of Public Health.
• CPR/AED credentials as required for the EMT/EMR license.
• HAZMAT (HAZWOPER) Training & Certification 24-Hours – New hires 8-Hours – Annually.
• Respiratory Protection Training & Certification – New hires/annually/fit test.
• Confined Space/Rope Rescue – New hires/annually.
• Successful completion of an annual comprehensive medical evaluation and physical examination which includes cardiac stress testing.
• Strong communication skills.

Pay

Starting Pay: $25.64/hr. to $25.64/hr.

Schedule

Rotating 12 hour schedule with built in overtime.
