Firefighter

About the Role

This employee performs intermediate protective service work in driving a fire apparatus, operating pumps, and fire suppression. Work is performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard. Work is performed under regular supervision.

Schedule

24.25-hour shift.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable firefighting experience.
• Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
• Possession of Level I & II Firefighter Certification and EMT-Basic certificate (all certifications must be recognized by the State of North Carolina).
• Must meet and maintain all department and state training and certification requirements for the position.

Residency Requirement

Applicants shall reside in one of the following counties: Watauga, Avery, Ashe, Caldwell, Wilkes, or Johnson County, TN.

Pay

$58,433 plus excellent benefits.

Probation

Employee will serve a six-month probation.
