Schedule and Compensation
This position will be scheduled an average of 20 hours per week. Associates must be available to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position pays approximately $18-$20/hour, including base wage and commission. Work hours are between 9:30 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Saturday, and 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sundays.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all paperwork for firearm sales, including form 4473, licensing, and background checks, are completed accurately and thoroughly.
- Conduct firearm safety and handling evaluations and appraisals.
- Exercise good judgment when interacting with customers during firearm purchases.
- Show a well-rounded knowledge of the firearm industry, including ammunition, reloading, and optics.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Be able to legally own a firearm.
- Stop straw purchases.
Greetings and Sales
- Greet all customers on the sales floor with courtesy and a smile.
- Grow personal sales by hitting minimum goals and following Scheels professional salesmanship standards.
- Promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card and explain its benefits.
- Engage in conversations with customers to assist them in making buying decisions.
- Demonstrate a passion for products in the store.
Training and Professional Development
- Attend all Scheels product training and store meetings.
- Maintain a professional appearance on the sales floor.
- Absorb and apply knowledge to enhance performance in the role.
Physical Requirements and Lifting
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, talk, and hear.
- Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and/or one to three months of cashiering experience.
- Customer Service: Genuinely and consistently treat co-workers, customers, and business partners like they are the most important person, including eye contact, a smile, and a genuine "Thank you."
