Join a great team of forensics personnel supporting the USPIS mission. Work in the USPIS Forensics Laboratory alongside experienced forensics professionals across all areas of forensics. This is an opportunity to work in a fully functional, accredited government laboratory and learn about the USPIS mission while assisting in working cases and reducing a large backlog. I-3 offers many forensics opportunities, providing first-hand knowledge of forensic activities.
About the role
Work within the Firearms Unit in a fully-functioning, accredited laboratory. All tasks are performed on-site in the laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Receive and inventory evidence
- Process, analyze, and examine evidence according to forensic science discipline, accreditation standards, and FLS policies and procedures
- Create examination documentation for work performed
- Issue forensic laboratory examination reports
- Provide expert testimony on work performed
Requirements
- US citizenship with the ability to obtain a clearance with the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS)
- Demonstrated ability to study and pass training, examination, and testing assessments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Preferred: B.S. degree with at least twenty-four (24) credit hours in the Physical Sciences
- Preferred: Experience working in an accredited laboratory
Schedule
Full time, day shift (normal working hours falling between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.)
