Firearm & Sporting Goods Sales

About the role

This position requires a minimum age of 18 years old due to ATF and FFL laws. The primary focus is on the sporting goods department, with assistance throughout the entire store as needed.

Responsibilities

• Sell merchandise and advise customers on features, advantages, and benefits both face-to-face and over the phone.
• Demonstrate product features, functions, and accessories.
• Provide merchandise/product knowledge to customers and recommend alternative or accessory goods.
• Verify detailed information from customers for firearms sales related background checks.
• Utilize ATF, FBI, and state systems when appropriate.
• Account for department inventory.
• Answer telephones and handle routine customer inquiries.
• Perform general floor maintenance and housekeeping.
• Maintain the condition and safekeeping of inventory and merchandise.
• Move material using appropriate tools and equipment.

Requirements

• Experience and knowledge of firearms, shooting, scopes, ammo, reloading, and accessories.
• Knowledge of 4473 forms preferred.
• Hunting, fishing, camping, shooting, and general outdoors experience preferred.
• Rigorous attention to detail.
• Computer skills.
• Previous merchandising experience helpful.
• Good communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with customers and staff.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Ability to resolve difficult or stressful customer service issues.
• Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
• Ability to work as a team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred, not required.
• College degree preferred, not required.
