Fire Suppression Sales Executive
About the role
Small contracting work lives in the space between service and large construction projects. Customers are not looking for a full ground-up system install, but they still need someone who can walk into a building, understand the problem, put together a clear plan, and move quickly. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, solution-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers across the Small Contracting division.
- Conduct site walks and customer meetings to evaluate project opportunities, define scope, and identify additional work opportunities.
- Generate and follow up on quoted opportunities through customer requests, inspections, service calls, referrals, and ongoing account relationships.
- Build trust with customers through responsive communication and consistent follow-through throughout the project lifecycle.
- Partner closely with Service, Operations, Scheduling, and Field Teams to support customer needs and drive successful project outcomes.
- Perform field surveys and gather accurate project scope information for fire protection-related repairs, retrofits, modifications, and tenant improvement work.
- Build detailed estimates and proposals including labor, materials, permits, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Review drawings, specifications, and applicable code requirements while coordinating with vendors, suppliers, and design teams for pricing and technical support.
- Ensure estimates align with company pricing standards, profitability targets, and operational capabilities while identifying project risks and scope gaps before work is sold.
- Coordinate project turnover with Operations, Scheduling, Design, and Field Teams to ensure complete documentation and clear scope expectations.
- Support permitting, scheduling, procurement, project communication, and field execution as needed.
- Assist with scope clarification, customer communication, project changes, and additional sales opportunities throughout project execution.
- Manage an active pipeline of quoted and awarded projects while maintaining accurate customer, proposal, and forecast information within company systems.
- Participate in operational meetings, forecasting discussions, and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain organized project documentation while balancing multiple active opportunities with responsiveness, accuracy, and professionalism.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of experience in estimating, inside sales, customer service, or project coordination within a trade, service, construction, or technical environment.
- Experience estimating fire protection or life safety projects, service work, or related construction projects, with a working knowledge of commercial fire protection systems and field applications.
- Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, inspection reports, and technical work orders while accurately identifying scope and asking the right questions.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues, project scope, and recommendations clearly to customers with little or no technical background.
- Highly organized with strong time management, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple active quotes, projects, deadlines, and shifting priorities without losing attention to detail.
- Mechanical aptitude, resilience, and comfort working in fast-paced technical and field-driven environments where direct communication and problem solving are part of the day-to-day.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, along with the willingness and ability to quickly learn CRM systems, estimating platforms, and operational tools such as HubSpot or ServiceTrade.
