Fire Sprinkler Technician

AIS is experiencing significant growth, and we are looking for a Fire Services Technician to join our team and provide expert-level installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of fire protection systems. A Sprinkler Technician installs, inspects, tests, repairs, and maintains automatic fire sprinkler systems and related fire-protection equipment. The technician ensures systems operate properly and comply with applicable fire codes, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain fire sprinkler piping, valves, heads, and related components.
- Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of sprinkler systems.
- Troubleshoot leaks, pressure problems, faulty valves, and system deficiencies.
- Conduct fire pump, alarm valve, backflow preventer, and other required testing as applicable.
- Read blueprints, plans, and hydraulic drawings.
- Replace damaged or defective sprinkler heads, fittings, valves, and piping.
- Perform system shutdowns and restorations safely and properly.
- Document inspection results, repairs, deficiencies, and service activities.
- Communicate with customers, building managers, contractors, and inspectors.
- Follow OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, and applicable NFPA standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with fire sprinkler systems, plumbing, construction, or mechanical systems preferred.
- Knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and applicable local fire codes preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic plumbing skills.
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined or elevated areas.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.
- NICET certification or applicable sprinkler/fire-protection licensing is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working overhead.
- Ability to work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors and occasionally respond to emergency service calls.
Pay
Up to $40 per hour (DOE)
