Fire Sprinkler Project Manager

System Design & layout

Create CAD design drawings and perform hydraulic calculations.

Regulatory Compliance

Interpret and apply Texas Department of Insurance (.gov) rules, NFPA, IFC, IBC, and local codes.

Project Oversight

  • Review shop drawings
  • Coordinate material lists
  • Manage project costs
  • Maintain delivery deadlines

Field Supervision

  • Supervise field installations
  • Oversee system testing
  • Sign off on contractor's material and test certificates

Team Leadership

  • Mentor junior sprinkler designers
  • Coordinate with contractors and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)

Material Buyout and Product Selection

  • Organize and manage all the elements involved in construction
  • Track, forecast, and communicate all costs, profits, and financial measures of the project

Scheduling and Labor Coordination

  • Work with both office and field personnel alike

Document Control

  • Document control
  • Contract scope review
  • Maintain records of the project for both current and future use

Communication and Meetings

  • Communicate and attend weekly design and project management meetings

Cost Management

  • Identify changes to the project scope that impact costs
  • Ensure change orders and billings are submitted and paid in a timely manner

Risk Hazard Analysis

  • Conduct Risk Hazard Analyses

Site Surveys, Onsite Commissioning, and Owner Training

  • Conduct site surveys
  • Onsite commissioning
  • Owners training

Customer Relationships

  • Foster strong working relationships and rapport with customers, clients, subcontractors and colleagues

Education & Qualifications

  • Must hold an active Texas RME-General license issued by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
  • NICET Level III or IV certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology / Automatic Sprinkler System Layout preferred.
  • Strong expertise in AutoCAD and specialized layout software like HydraCAD, AutoSprink, and AutoCAD preferred.
  • At least 5 years of job design and project management experience required.
  • Education in Construction Management, Engineering or other applicable degree from a technical school or college preferred.
  • Working knowledge of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems preferred, but not required.
  • NICET Water Based System I, II, or III preferred.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
