Responsibilities
- Inspect, repair, and maintain fire sprinkler systems in accordance with project specifications, NFPA standards, and local building codes.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine the layout and configuration of sprinkler systems.
- Assemble and inspect pipes, fittings, valves, and other components of sprinkler systems, ensuring proper alignment and connection.
- Test newly installed sprinkler systems to verify functionality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of existing fire protection systems, including troubleshooting and repairing issues as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members, including engineers, project managers, and inspectors, to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used, labor hours, and project documentation.
- Provide training and guidance to other team members as needed.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent completion of a formal apprenticeship program or trade school in sprinkler fitting preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the installation and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
- An Ohio license for sprinkler systems, fire mains, and fire alarms required.
- A strong understanding of NFPA codes and standards, as well as local building and fire codes.
- Strong technical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair sprinkler system components.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- A detail-oriented approach with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- A valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and successful passing of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background checks.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- A willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to climb ladders, use lifts, and work at various heights.
- Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
- Safety protocols and procedures must be adhered to, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Confined spaces or outdoor environments may be encountered.
- Requires occasional pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
- Must be able to remain alert and focused while performing detailed or repetitive tasks.
