About the role
The Fire Sprinkler Designer / CAD Drafter will play a critical role in protecting people and property by producing accurate, code-compliant system designs that support our Fire Protection and Low Voltage teams.
Responsibilities
- Embody State Systems’ mission of protecting life and property in every project.
- Demonstrate knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures using AutoCAD and other CAD platforms.
- Prepare project drawings, specifications, and schematics.
- Design layouts, perform field checks, create fabrication listings, material and equipment submittals, calculations, installation requirements, and close-out documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with NFPA standards and maintain scope of company obligations.
- Support both Fire Protection and Low Voltage projects.
- Clock with project managers to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local codes.
- Interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
- Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication.
- Maintain organization, accuracy, and efficiency across multiple projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of CAD experience.
- 2+ years using Windows-based AutoCAD design software.
- 1–2 years of Fire Sprinkler / Life Safety design experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook (2+ years).
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional communication skills and collaborative mindset.
- Ability to work seated at a desk for a standard eight-hour workday.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.

- AutoCAD proficiency.
- Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay
Compensation is based on education, experience, and credentials.

Full-time | Monday–Friday | 8-hour shifts
