CU Boulder’s Hannigan Air Quality (HAQ) Lab is part of a collaborative NSF-funded project to better understand and model firebrand emissions from wildland fires. The HAQ Lab’s role is to characterize firebrand emissions from wind-driven and local prescribed fires.

About the role

We are seeking a Fire Smoke Scientist to train incoming HAQ Lab PhD students on the group’s chemical characterization equipment and emissions-monitoring workflows, and to support field work for the NSF Firebrand project.

Responsibilities

  • Train a new PhD student on organic analysis of smoke and determination of emission factors from solid-fuel combustion.
  • Kick-start a new field-work approach focused on firebrand assessment.

Requirements

  • Expertise in organic analysis of smoke.
  • Experience determining emission factors from solid-fuel combustion.

Pay

$30.00 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time, temporary position.
