The Fire Shop Associate supports the daily operations of a fire protection branch by ensuring equipment, tools, inventory, and supplies are properly maintained, organized, and prepared for technicians. The role works closely with Service Technicians, Project Managers, Operations Managers, and other team members to ensure the shop runs smoothly and aligns with company safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Receives, organizes, and stocks parts/products into inventory on a daily basis.
- Keeps track of product quantities and works with purchasing to reorder items as needed.
- Maintains a clean, safe, orderly, and secure shop environment; ensures walkways are clear and materials are stored safely.
- Pulls product and could support running items to customers and/or job sites as needed.
- Assists with inventory counts and maintains accurate records of where products/parts are allocated in the field.
- May operate a forklift and/or pallet jack to receive shipments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a shop, warehouse, fire protection, or maintenance environment preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and shop equipment.
- Ability to read work orders, follow instructions, and complete documentation accurately.
- Ability to learn new computer skills; familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
- Maintains a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
Physical Requirements
- Utilizes a computer, talks on the phone, and attends virtual online and in-person meetings.
- Stands/walks and is on feet for up to 8 hours a day.
- Lifts, pulls, and carries equipment and materials up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.
- May work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
