Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter - New Construction

Summary

The Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter is responsible for the installation and testing of automatic fire suppression systems within our new construction division.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine layout requirements.
• Install clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment.
• Connect piping system to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors, and control equipment.
• Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment.
• Train and direct the day‑to‑day work of a Helper.
• Maintain appropriate documentation for the work performed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter, or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards.
• Must be able to multi‑task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem‑solving skills.
• Must adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Must be available and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned.
• Physical ability to work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods, and lift up to 50 lb.
• Ability to correctly identify all colors of color‑coded cables/wires and possess adequate vision (close, distance, depth perception, peripheral).
• Preferred: 4+ years as a Fire Protection Sprinkler Fitter on heavy commercial construction projects.
• Preferred: Prior military experience.
• Preferred: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Work Environment

Work may be performed in varying temperatures, both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness. Employees may be exposed to moderate/high noise levels, fumes, dust, confined spaces, or high heights.
