Fire Protection Sales/Service Technician
About the role
The FIRE PROTECTION SALES/SERVICE TECHNICIAN position at State Systems is designed for self-starters who enjoy independent work while collaborating with a team. It offers opportunities for sales, service, and interacting with clients. The role involves inspecting, servicing, installing fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, and emergency lighting.
Responsibilities
- Sells services and products within assigned territory, maintaining sales/service quota and following established guidelines.
- Identifies prospects using creative lead generating techniques.
- Presents sales presentations and proposals to prospects, highlighting the positive features and advantages of State Systems’ products and services compared to competitors.
- Follows up with prospects.
- Inspects, services, installs fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, and exit/emergency lighting.
- Processes work orders and completes paperwork according to approved and standardized procedures.
Requirements
- Proficient in Windows-based software and MS Office 2000 or higher.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Good organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record meeting company requirements.
- Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication, negotiating, and time management skills.
- Ambitious results-oriented individual with entrepreneurial drive.
Core Competencies

Physical Requirements & Exposures
- Must be in good physical condition with no limitations.
- Willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds, carry 50 pounds repeatedly, push/generate greater than 100 pounds as needed, and pull greater than 100 pounds as needed.
- Must be able to safely climb a ladder and reach a height of at least 12 ft.
- Constant (5-8hrs/shift) standing, walking, handling items, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
- Frequently (2-5hrs/shift) lifting, carrying, repetitive motions, noise exposure, grasping items.
- Occasionally (up to 2hrs/shift) sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, balancing, reaching, crouching, exposure to weather.
- Exposure to chemicals that may be skin and/or respiratory irritants and exposure to ventilation areas which may have respiratory irritation.
Compensation
The compensation package is commission-based, rewarding hardworking individuals. Potential compensation for the first year ranges from $40,000 to $60,000, with potential for top performers to earn more in subsequent years.
