About the role
A professional position for a licensed engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of six years of relevant work experience in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations and design systems in accordance with established policies, standards, procedures, and codes with minimal to no supervision.
- Apply practical knowledge and experience to resolve project-related problems and conflicts.
- Make independent engineering decisions for assigned projects.
- Occasionally supervise subordinate personnel or assist other engineers/designers.
- Interpret and apply discipline-specific codes and other building codes.
- Meet with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to prepare design budgets and schedules.
- Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete project design requirements.
- Lead and assign design job functions to designated designers, supervising their efforts to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
- Implement system types as selected by the Project Engineer and provide complete construction documents that meet client and project team requirements.
- Review preliminary and final engineering designs with other disciplines for function, clearances, coordination, and final design selection.
- Perform final reviews of engineering drawings.
- Maintain client contact.
- Conduct quality assurance on projects in coordination with the technical manager or project engineer.
- Mentor and motivate Engineering Designers I, II, and III.
- Uphold high professional standards and integrity, prioritizing company and client best interests.
- Meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design.
- Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of six years of relevant work experience.
- Professional engineering license in the United States.
