Fire Protection Engineer III

Responsibilities

• Analyzes buildings, transportation systems, and materials for potential fire hazards and design fire prevention and suppression systems.
• Research causes of fires, determine fire protection methods, and design or recommend materials or equipment such as structural components or fire-detection equipment to assist organizations in safeguarding life and property against fire, explosion, and related hazards.
• Handles complex issues and problems, refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering and up to 3 years’ experience in fire protection work or equivalent education/experience such as work with piping/mechanical systems, building construction, or control/alarm systems.
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. May act as a lead.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain a DOE “L” clearance.
