Fire Protection Engineer - Federal

You’ll work alongside professional engineers and designers, gaining exposure to project coordination, relevant computer-assisted engineering software, data collection, and more.

You will direct the activities of design staff to produce drawings and calculations for fire sprinkler systems, special hazards suppression systems, fire pumps, fire alarm and mass notification, and building/life safety codes analysis. You’ll be part of diverse teams, sharing knowledge and learning to grow your career in fire protection engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop and complete challenging building projects across various markets within our Cities & Places business, locally, nationally, and globally.
• Direct design staff in producing drawings and calculations for fire sprinkler systems, special hazards suppression systems, fire pumps, fire alarm and mass notification systems.
• Conduct building and life safety codes analysis.
• Utilize hydraulic calculation programs and apply knowledge of NFPA Codes and International Building and Fire Codes.
• Travel to job sites around the world (estimated 10-15% travel).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Safety Technology, or other related discipline.
• At least 5 years of related professional experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. State, having passed the fire protection engineering examination.
• Must not require sponsorship for an employment visa (e.g., H-1B, L-1B, OPT, F-1) now or in the future to work for Jacobs in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NFPA and ICC codes and standards.
• Experience in fire sprinkler, suppression, and fire alarm system layout.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $91,400.00 to $159,900.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

Hybrid working policy allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
