About the role
This Fire Protection Engineer will develop fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects. Responsibilities include:
- Developing building fire protection systems
- Designing and commissioning building fire suppression systems
- Designing and commissioning building fire alarm systems
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include:
- Leading the planning, design, and commissioning of building fire protection systems
- Coordinating with other support disciplines and regional offices
- Aiding project managers in project management
- Fulfilling quality assurance and quality control plans
- Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings
- Using software-based calculation tools for design calculations
- Managing multiple assignments concurrently
- Managing project budget and schedule compliance
- Overseeing fire protection design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle
- Managing and maintaining ongoing communication with clients
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university or college
- Licensed Professional Engineer having passed the Fire Protection examination
- 5-10 years of building design and construction industry experience
- Knowledge of fire protection engineering principals related to building fire protection designs
- Proven experience overseeing fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with Autodesk Revit
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AIA MasterSpec
- Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria
