Fire Protection Engineer

The Fire Protection Engineer ensures structural integrity and safety during fire events, utilizing science and engineering principles to protect people, property, and businesses from fire and smoke. This role involves analyzing fire risks to design specialized systems like sprinklers and alarms, ensuring building code compliance, and developing evacuation plans.

Responsibilities

• Produces highly detailed, coordinated construction drawings across all disciplines
• Coordinates with internal team members to support project success
• Integrates into a highly technical team and consistently delivers high-quality work
• Designs compliant and effective fire protection systems and fire alarm systems
• Assists with submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction-phase documentation
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or a closely related engineering field
• 1–3 years of fire protection design experience
• E.I.T. certification preferred but not required
• PE certification or active pursuit of licensure is a plus

Skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD
• Exceptional Microsoft Office skillset
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Proven success working with all levels of management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
• Ability to travel and move throughout construction sites intermittently as required by project needs
