About the Role
The Fire Protection Engineer plays a critical role in designing fire protection and mechanical systems. This includes tasks such as creating sprinkler layouts, sizing fire pumps, and selecting appropriate equipment. The position requires a strong foundation in industry concepts, practices, and procedures, and may involve consulting on complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Design fire protection and plumbing systems (e.g., sprinkler layouts, fire pump sizing, piping, sanitary, medical gas, domestic water heating, ductwork)
- Perform system calculations, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, and equipment selections
- Develop construction documents and job-specific specifications
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction inspections
- Cookordination with multidisciplinary teams and clients
- Serve as Engineer of Record and mentor junior staff
- Ensure compliance with codes such as NFPA, ASHRAE, and IBC
- High proficiency in computer-aided design tools and software (Revit, AutoCAD, MEP, MS Office Suite, Trace 3D)
Requirements
- Healthcare Experience is required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- 8+ years as a licensed professional engineer
- Computer Skills: Revit, Auto CAD, MEP, MS Office Suite, Trace 3D
- Licensed in at least one U.S. state
- Certified Plumbing Designer (Preferred)
- LEED, Green Globes, or other sustainability credentials (Preferred)

- NCEES Registration
- Current PE License (required)

Pay
Ranges: $120,000 - $180,000 Annually
