Fire Protection Engineer
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple fire protection engineering projects, including scope, schedule, staffing, budget, and delivery.
- Provide consulting services to architects, developers, owners, government agencies, and insurers.
- Interpret and apply ICC codes (IBC, IFC, IMC) and NFPA standards to ensure compliance.
- Design and review fire alarm, detection, suppression, and smoke control systems.
- Perform fire and life safety analyses, including egress, smoke control, and fire-resistant construction.
- Develop performance-based design solutions and special hazard strategies.
- Conduct site visits and coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), contractors, and project teams.
- Lead technical presentations and client/project meetings.
- Support business development efforts, including proposals and client relationship management.
- Collaborate across disciplines and offices to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Sciences, or related field.
- Minimum of 6+ years of fire protection engineering experience (8+ preferred).
- At least 2 years of project management experience.
- P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering (or actively pursuing).
- Strong knowledge of fire protection systems and life safety principles.
- Experience with modeling tools such as FDS, CONTAM, and egress modeling software.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $128,000.00 - $162,000.00/yr. Coffman offers comprehensive benefits and a flexible PTO program.
