Responsibilities
- Perform fire hazard analyses, fire risk assessments, fire area evaluations, and engineering calculations.
- Support upgrades and modifications to fire protection systems, including:
- Fire detection and alarm systems
- Fire suppression systems
- Fire barriers, fire doors, and fire dampers
- Fire pumps and water supply systems
- Passive fire protection features
- Apply fire protection codes, standards, and regulatory requirements throughout project lifecycles.
- Develop technical reports, engineering evaluations, calculations, specifications, and procedures.
- Support the design, testing, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection systems.
- Participate in engineering reviews and modification projects to ensure fire protection requirements are met.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex technical challenges.
- Provide engineering support for a variety of industrial, power generation, and energy-related projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional experience in fire protection engineering or a related engineering field.
- Knowledge of fire protection systems, fire dynamics, fire risk assessments, and fire hazard analyses.
- Experience interpreting and applying fire protection codes and standards.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Experience supporting nuclear projects is preferred but not required.
Nice to Have
- Experience with nuclear facilities, power generation, utilities, industrial manufacturing, or other highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with NRC requirements, NFPA standards, NFPA 805, Appendix R, or similar fire protection programs.
- Experience with fire modeling, risk assessments, or probabilistic risk assessment (PRA).
- Experience supporting regulatory audits, inspections, or compliance initiatives.
