Fire Protection Design Engineer
About the role
P2S is seeking a Fire Protection Design Engineer with 5–9 years of experience to join our team. This position offers opportunities to contribute to diverse, high-impact projects while continuing to grow your technical expertise in fire protection and life safety systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform fire and building code analysis
- Design fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, and specialized suppression systems
- Develop system layouts and construction documents
- Conduct sprinkler hydraulic calculations and fire alarm calculations
- Conduct site assessments and prepare technical reports
- Support senior engineers with engineering analyses (e.g., smoke control, hazardous materials, energy storage systems, combustible dust)
- Provide construction phase support, including: Responding to RFIs, Reviewing submittals, Participating in punch walks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5–9 years of experience in fire protection system design (sprinkler and/or fire alarm)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience with sprinkler calculation software (e.g., AutoSPRINK, HydraCALC)
- Strong knowledge of Building and Fire Codes and NFPA standards
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Fire Protection
- Experience with healthcare, education, and/or federal projects
- Exposure to project management or business development
- EIT or PE license
- NICET certification (Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm)
