Responsibilities

  • Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
  • Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/systems problems.
  • Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices to repair equipment.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as smartphones and laptops.
  • Obtain customer signatures upon completion of service calls.
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation.
  • Train or mentor others on the service team.
  • Provide customers with high-level service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items as a trusted advisor.
  • Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
  • Organize and utilize technical resources, information, material, and support efficiently to execute assigned tasks.
  • Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Perform on-call and after-hours work as needed by customers.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of documented experience with fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Good working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Retain any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical training.
  • NICET II Fire Systems certification.
  • Experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks.

Pay

Hiring hourly range: $23–$31. The hourly rate will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
