Responsibilities
- Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
- Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/systems problems.
- Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
- Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and bulletins to repair equipment.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers' Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices like smartphones and laptops.
- Obtain customer signatures upon completion of service calls.
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation.
- Train or mentor others on the service team.
- Provide customers with high-level service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
- Troubleshoot and repair installed systems, including panel repair/reprogramming, device replacement/repair, and resolving low voltage circuit issues.
- Organize and utilize technical resources, information, and materials efficiently.
- Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels (experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks is a plus).
- Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Perform on-call and after-hours work as required by customer needs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
- Knowledge of test equipment such as multimeters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Able to work in unusual and difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, and working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
- Overnight travel may be required occasionally.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
- Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
- Adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Retain any licenses required by national, state, and local codes.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Level II certification
Pay
Hiring hourly range: $28.70 - $39.47. The hourly rate will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
