Fire Detection Inspector
About the role
As a Lead Fire Alarm Inspector with Johnson Controls, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of fire alarm systems in various buildings. Your responsibilities include conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler, or suppression life safety product lines.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in maintaining building and occupant safety and compliance by inspecting and testing fire alarm systems and associated devices.
- Complete inspection reports and documents using communication devices like laptops and/or hard copies.
- Maintain a structured inspection schedule and input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents via laptop computer.
- Ensure inspections are completed on time while prioritizing safety for yourself and colleagues.
- Perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 30 lbs., and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Work within confined spaces, such as ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
- Adhere to and implement safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
Requirements
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
- Work well with others and possess strong organizational skills.
- Have a positive attitude and be able to learn quickly.
- Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and strong smartphone usage.
- Be capable of following verbal and written instructions.
- Be able to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 30 lbs., climbing ladders, and working with scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
- Successfully obtain NICET Level I or II, supported by company-provided training.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and operational/product manuals.
- Experience with hand tools and barcode scanners.
