About the Role

A successful Fire Restoration Technician monitors, inspects, and completes tasks for restoration jobs to ensure completion of drying, demolition, pack-out of contents, and various fire restoration activities. The technician prepares and reviews documentation, including notes, photos, and documents according to company policies and procedures to ensure reimbursement from insurance companies. They also explain processes used to complete active jobs and next steps to resolution in person to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve work orders, ensure appropriate equipment and supplies are loaded on the truck, and arrive at the work site.
  • Explain processes used to complete active jobs and next steps to resolution in person to customers using printed materials as a guide, with or without a supervisor.
  • Complete assigned jobs according to company processes while maintaining quality control on each job with urgency.
  • Perform fire/smoke damage repair and tasks, including water extraction, pack-out of contents, removing/disposing of non-salvageable materials, light construction, and demolition as directed by a supervisor.
  • Ensure equipment, supplies, vehicles, and products are properly handled; report any equipment malfunction or damage to a supervisor.
  • Inspect jobs after completion, obtain customer signatures for approval, and request payments when necessary.
  • Make daily adjustments to the drying plan based on meter readings.
  • Resolve issues with customers, communicate customer issues and daily job activities with a supervisor and key company staff.
  • Prepare documentation and pictures according to company policies and procedures to ensure reimbursement from insurance companies.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in the restoration or construction industry is preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of the disaster restoration industry.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with entering data using a tablet or mobile phone.
  • Ability to report to work on time in a clean, complete uniform.
  • Ability to read and follow product label usage instructions.

Certifications are preferred but not required: FSRT – Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician, OCT – Odor Control Technician.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Move up to 70 pounds often by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods; lifting, squatting, crawling, and crouching are required.
  • Express or exchange ideas with others and receive and act on detailed information given.
  • For safety reasons, respirators, which are used in certain situations, must be able to seal to your face.
  • Work both inside and outside in varying environmental conditions, such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
