Fire Alarm Technician Apprentice

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
  • Perform inspections to ensure fire alarms are installed and functioning according to code.
  • Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues.
  • Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Protect and maintain company tools and equipment.
  • Work safely following company safety procedures, including driver safety and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Interact with customers in a mature and professional manner.
  • Respond to emergency service calls as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Self-study applicable NFPA codes and standards to enhance knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.

Qualifications

  • Basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the office and job sites.
  • Flexible with scheduling, including occasional work past 5 PM or on weekends as needed.
  • Ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Able to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Comfortable using or repairing small tools (e.g., power tools, ladders) and medium equipment/machinery.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Must balance, climb, grasp, hear, think critically, pull, push, perform repetitive motions, speak, and maintain visual acuity to perform essential job functions.
