Responsibilities
- Create unique design solutions for commercial building fire alarm systems in new and existing facilities.
- Recommend productivity improvements and cost reductions to enhance customer satisfaction and job profitability.
- Perform peer-to-peer review of engineering documents.
- Make recommendations related to productivity improvement and cost reduction to increase customer satisfaction.
- Aid in selecting the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost-effective solution.
- Provide general electrical calculations, including battery calculations, voltage drop calculations, conduit fills, power supply sizing, etc.
Requirements
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED.
- At least 3 years of fire system design experience, or 2+ years of experience engineering fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals of fire systems or equivalent field experience with fire system controls.
- Knowledge of fire alarm system components such as fire alarm panels, strobe booster panels, spot detectors, duct-mounted smoke detectors, projected beam smoke detectors, aspirating smoke detectors, monitor modules, relay modules, manual pull stations, notification devices, class A/Class B/Class X circuits, state and local fire codes, and NFPA 72 national fire code.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and design.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- NICET II Fire Alarm Systems certification and ability and willingness to obtain NICET III.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5+ years of experience engineering fire alarm systems.
- EIT, NICET III - Fire Alarm Systems.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of fire alarm system components.
- Ability to perform general electrical calculations.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- NICET II and NICET III certifications.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $50,908 - $87,271 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
