Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA standards and applicable local codes.
- Diagnose system issues, identify malfunctions, and complete timely and accurate repairs.
- Program, configure, and verify fire alarm control panels and related devices.
- Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, and compliance forms.
- Maintain accurate records of system work, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding system status, required repairs, and code compliance.
- Cookordination with project managers, service coordinators, and inspectors as needed.
- Ensure company tools, test equipment, and service vehicles are properly maintained.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and job site regulations.
- Stay current with industry codes, technologies, and certification requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation and emergency service response.
Education And/or Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical training or certifications preferred; minimum of 1–3 years of experience servicing fire alarm or life safety systems preferred.
- NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred or required based on state.
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes.
Computer Skills
- Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency with fire alarm panels, devices, and testing equipment.
- Ability to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications.
- Familiarity with system manufacturers such as Notifier or equivalent preferred.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Field-based role at commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and electrical environments.
- On-call rotation and occasional overtime may be required.
