About the role
Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, seeks a skilled individual to assist in the installation of electronic product lines and standard electronic systems. The role involves assisting the responsible person in completing install-related tasks, observing actions, and applying instructions as directed.
Responsibilities
- Assists the responsible person in performing install-related tasks for electronic product lines and standard electronic systems.
- Observes the actions of the responsible person(s) and applies as directed.
- Helps with installation of electronic systems, including start-up through final testing.
- Fulfills verbal and written instructions, reads and understands complex construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
- Carries/moves equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Performs work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet or more.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Pick up and properly dispose of all trash associated with SimplexGrinnell work.
- Wears appropriate safety equipment as required, including but not limited to hard hats and work boots.
- May be required to work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer installation requirements.
- Daily submission of required paperwork.
Requirements
- 1 year of Fire Alarm and/or Security System experience.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Successful completion of drug screen and background check.
- Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
Qualifications
- Experience in an electrical trade preferred.
- Low voltage experience is a plus.
- NICET certification is a plus.
- VESDA certification is a plus.
Skills
Required skills include:
- Fire Alarm and/or Security System experience.

Pay
Hiring hourly range: $18.22 - 25.09 per hour, based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
