About the role
The Fire Alarm Designer plays a crucial role in creating safe and efficient fire alarm systems for clients. This position requires a strong understanding of fire safety codes, engineering principles, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
- Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
- Prepare submittals and material lists.
- Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
- Stay updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience with fire alarm/fire suppression system design.
- NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
- Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm system design preferred.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.
- Self-learner, self-motivated, dedicated, organized, and a team player.
- Good communication and organization skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and accomplish tasks in a timely and safe manner.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience with fire alarm/fire suppression system design.
