Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, program, test, inspect, service, and repair fire alarm systems, including control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and related components.
- Install, inspect, test, maintain, and service fire suppression systems (such as clean agent, pre-action, dry/wet sprinkler interfaces, or special hazard systems, as applicable).
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA standards, local AHJ requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company policies.
- Complete accurate documentation, including inspection reports, service tickets, time entries, and deficiency reports.
- Interface professionally with customers, general contractors, inspectors, and AHJs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and other partners to ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicles in safe working condition.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service calls as required.
- Mentor and provide guidance to apprentices and less-experienced technicians.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, including OSHA regulations and company safety programs.
Education/Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman-level experience in fire alarm and/or fire suppression systems.
- Applicable state or local Journeyman license or certification (where required).
- Working knowledge of NFPA codes (including but not limited to NFPA 72, NFPA 13, and applicable suppression standards).
- Ability to program and service common fire alarm and suppression system manufacturers.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical drawings.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- NICET certification (Level II or higher) in Fire Alarm Systems and/or Special Hazards Suppression preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work with hands and tools for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor job sites.
