About the Role

As a Finishing Technician I, you will take machined parts in raw or unfinished states and use a variety of tools, equipment, and processes to "finish" them. This role requires a fundamental understanding of overall machining practices and involves working with materials such as castings, forgings, tubing, bar stock, extrusions, steel, stainless steel, titanium, brass, aluminum, and copper.

Responsibilities

  • Operate standard finishing equipment, including:
    • Drill Press
    • Buffer
    • Grinder
    • Tumbling machines with abrasives
    • Miscellaneous hand tools (e.g., grinder, sander, Dremel tools, blades, knives, wrenches)
    • Bead Blaster
    • Spinner
  • Maintain strong attention to detail, focusing on the cosmetics of the part.
  • Review blueprints for part features.
  • Use standard shop inspection equipment to ensure print dimensions are maintained.
  • Complete documentation while following specific processes.
  • Interact with machinists, quality control, and other machine shop personnel.
  • Assess and apply appropriate finishing solutions per instructions for both new and current manufacturing processes.
  • Interface with product development, quality control, and other machine shop personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of machine shop experience.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment, adhering to the Company’s Principles of Integrity.

Work Environment

  • 95% of time spent in a climate-controlled shop environment, 5% in an office.
  • Regularly required to use hands and arms for repetitive motions.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, listening, and speaking for long periods.
  • Manual dexterity for pushing, pulling, reaching, grabbing, holding, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Required to wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work on concrete floors and wear steel-toed shoes for 10-12 hours per day.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $16.92 - $31.44.
