Finishing Operator

Responsibilities

• Receives job assignments from Press Supervisor or Team Lead
• Reads job specifications and selects correct cores and rewind method for job
• Reviews job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed
• Inspects products to ensure quality integrity and packages products
• Observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding
• Ensures quality of work to include color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped
• Uses strobe lights or automated inspection systems to identify and remove printing defects, flags, or splices
• Ensures correct core sizes are used, applies end-of-roll tape, and securely boxes finished products with accurate labeling
• Aids in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs
• Performs preventative maintenance on machines
• Removes or replaces blades on inspection machines
• Completes paperwork for each job and packages finished goods for shipment to customer
• Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards

Qualifications

• Can spot a microscopic ink smudge on a roll moving at high speeds
• Comfortable working with tools for setups and making minor mechanical adjustments
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Strong grasp of basic measurements (fractions and decimals) and the ability to read a ruler accurately
• Previous experience in a printing, packaging, or manufacturing environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic
