Responsibilities
- Receives job assignments from Press Supervisor or Team Lead
- Reads job specifications and selects correct cores and rewind method for job
- Reviews job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed
- Inspects products to ensure quality integrity and packages products
- Observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding
- Ensures quality of work to include color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped
- Uses strobe lights or automated inspection systems to identify and remove printing defects, flags, or splices
- Ensures correct core sizes are used, applies end-of-roll tape, and securely boxes finished products with accurate labeling
- Aids in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs
- Performs preventative maintenance on machines
- Removes or replaces blades on inspection machines
- Completes paperwork for each job and packages finished goods for shipment to customer
- Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards
Qualifications
- Can spot a microscopic ink smudge on a roll moving at high speeds
- Comfortable working with tools for setups and making minor mechanical adjustments
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Strong grasp of basic measurements (fractions and decimals) and the ability to read a ruler accurately
- Previous experience in a printing, packaging, or manufacturing environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic
