Finishing Operator
About the Role
Novelis is seeking an Operations Technician for our Guthrie, KY facility. This role combines technical skills with our capabilities to contribute to our continued success in aluminum recycling and rolling, serving aerospace, automotive, beverage packaging, and specialty markets.
Schedule
Operations Technicians work rotating 12-hour shifts on a 2,2,3 rotation, alternating between days and nights. This schedule allows for every other weekend off and time off during the week for better work/life balance. Paid overtime may be voluntary or scheduled based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Complete work in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
- Recognize and mitigate safety risks; communicate effectively about risks and exposures.
- Monitor instrumentation and control devices.
- Make product and process decisions based on graphical and statistical analysis.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Perform assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and suggest new ideas.
- Learn and grow in a team environment; mentor other Operators.
- Use email to communicate effectively across departments and locations.
- Give and receive feedback openly, honestly, and respectfully.
Requirements
- Completed High School diploma or GED; Associate Degree in a technical field preferred.
- Proven foundation and value for safety.
- Minimum four years of work history/experience.
- Ability and desire to work in and participate in a team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of software applications, email, etc.
Functional Capacity Requirements
- Ability to work in heat above 80°F and cold environments.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Climbing stairs and ladders.
- Bending, twisting, and kneeling, sometimes in close quarters.
- Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 environment.
- Must meet minimum requirements for overhead crane/mobile equipment operation, including annual physical and vision exams.

Location
Guthrie, KY, is nestled in the rolling hills of Southwestern Kentucky along the Tennessee border. The city is known for its central location, rich transportation history, and welcoming community. The Novelis Guthrie facility is a greenfield site featuring innovative equipment to recycle aluminum for automotive and beverage can markets. The facility is approximately 30 minutes from Clarksville, TN, and Hopkinsville, KY, and will employ 125 residents. Local attractions include hunting, fishing, hiking, and the Guthrie Transportation Museum.
