About the Role
As a Machine Set-Up/Gluer Operator, you will understand and align business operations within the Finishing Department to meet customer expectations and support GPI's manufacturing objectives.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate gluers, inner cell, 4-corner, and 6-corner gluers; and related peripheral/supporting equipment for manufacturing folded and glued cartons.
- Inspect completed production work for defects and adjust machinery as needed to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Keep daily time and materials usage reports and record information in Peak and SAP.
- Perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Disassemble machines to maintain, repair, or replace broken or worn parts.
- Assist temporary employees with task assignments, reinforcing housekeeping, safety, and core values.
- Review job tickets and perform set-up tasks for production.
- Quality control production in all gluing aspects, including carton alignment, glue adhesion, and proper folding.
- Verify and communicate product and work standards to the team.
- Maintain production equipment through minor maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrations, adjustments, repairs, and authorized modifications.
- Clean the area around the gluer for manufacturing.
Requirements
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Mechanical/technical aptitude
- Entry-level computer skills
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Skills
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot machinery
- Attention to detail for quality control
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Benefits
GPI offers competitive compensation and benefits, including a starting wage of $23.33/hour base to $25.20/hour + shift differential and progressive pay increases. The earning potential can reach up to $39.66/hour in other departments.
Pay
The starting wage is $23.33/hour base to $25.20/hour + shift differential and progressive pay increases. The earning potential can reach up to $39.66/hour in other departments.
Schedule
- Schedules are up to 8 or 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off.
- Some Departments/Jobs may run a M-F 8-hour Shift Schedule.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
- Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
- Routine Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional Lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Push/pull pallet jack with up to 50 lb. push force.
- Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
- Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
Safe Quality Food Responsibilities
- Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
- Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
- Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
- Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
- Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
