About the Opportunity

The Financial Variable Compensation Analyst role is a critical position within the Finance team focused on administering and analyzing variable compensation programs. This role ensures accurate incentive compensation processing, delivers actionable insights, and supports strategic initiatives that enhance compensation program effectiveness and business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Execute complex variable compensation calculations and ensure highly accurate, timely incentive and commission payments
  • Maintain meticulous, audit-ready documentation of compensation plans, performance metrics, and historical payout structures
  • Analyze multi-layered compensation data to identify performance trends, budget variances, and plan improvement opportunities
  • Prepare regular, high-impact reports on baseline compensation performance and over-arching plan effectiveness for executive review
  • Act as the primary point of contact to resolve compensation inquiries and support day-to-day plan administration
  • Collaborate dynamically with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate revenue reporting and foundational data integrity
  • Support the implementation, configuration, and continuous refinement of automated compensation software systems
  • Aid in the support of specialized industry and market salary surveys, managing data collection and structural analysis
  • Partner closely with corporate leadership to review survey results and translate insights into strategic business planning
  • Support Sales and Business Development teams by building pricing models and financial components for RFIs and RFPs
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance tracking, reporting precision, and internal controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Corporate Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related quantitative field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive professional experience in variable compensation administration, financial analysis, accounting, or related analytical roles
  • Direct hands-on experience managing structured incentive compensation architectures or complex sales commission programs
  • Strong logical analysis capabilities with a proven ability to organize, clean, and manipulate large, intricate financial datasets
  • Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., advanced formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, index-match, pivot tables, and data modeling)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills tailored for explaining compensation logic to diverse internal stakeholders
  • Excellent self-management habits to balance competing priorities and work collaboratively within a remote framework
  • Uncompromising attention to detail, strong spot-checking habits, and a strict commitment to data accuracy
  • Prior experience with dedicated sales compensation architectures or Automated Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) programs
  • Technical familiarity with enterprise CRM, ERP, or specialized commission management systems (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite, Xactly, CaptivateIQ)
  • Experience building corporate financial reports, data pipelines, or interactive data visualization models (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Proven track record supporting structural process improvements and cross-functional corporate initiatives

Pay Range and Compensation Package

The target annual base salary range is $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 USD. Final salary placement within this established range is determined dynamically based on the candidate's depth of financial analysis experience, technical Excel skills, and geographic remote location.
