The role
The Financial Systems Manager serves as Jefferson Lab’s principal owner and expert for all financial systems and related business processes. This role performs highly complex information technology work with significant independence, covering system administration, database and reporting tools, integrations, security, and enterprise applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, integration, testing, upgrading, and optimization of financial system capabilities across ERP platforms, reporting tools, and connected applications.
- Translate complex business, accounting, and operational requirements into clear system specifications; develop documentation, validation processes, and acceptance criteria.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and data issues within the financial systems environment, identifying root causes of application problems and ensuring high system availability and continuity.
- Develop and improve reporting structures, analysis workflows, operational metrics, and process automations that support decision-making and organizational efficiency.
- Identify system and process weaknesses, propose enhancements, support streamlining initiatives, and contribute to financial assurance and continuous improvement efforts.
- Manage intra-departmental projects to develop and deploy changes, system enhancements, upgrades.
- Manage operational testing of the ERP system updates. Develop new test scripts that align with new business practices or ERP system changes, and verify/validate all tests suites were completed successfully in support of new releases.
Requirements
- Required: 6 or more years of experience in relevant IT field
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
Qualifications
- Extensive technical expertise with enterprise financial systems, including ERP platforms, reporting tools, integrations, and configuration management.
- In-depth working knowledge of accounting theory, internal financial controls, cost accounting requirements, and federal contracting requirements.
- Working knowledge of business processes across Finance, HR, Procurement, Property, and Budget, and how these functions interact within an integrated ERP environment.
- Strong proficiency with reporting tools, data analysis, performance metrics, benchmarking, and continuous-improvement methodologies.
- Strong data analytics, with an understanding of proper data modeling.
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with demonstrated capability to work independently and manage complex tasks with minimal oversight.
- Strong technical skills with a broad understanding of Costpoint, Time & Expense, Cognos Analytics and Power BI.
