About the role

Responsibilities
- Processes payroll, invoices, purchase requests, and purchase orders.
- Researches information for invoices, purchase orders, and payroll.
- Assists with interpreting policies related to travel, payroll, and other Finance Support Technician functions.
- Verifies coding on invoices and ensures proper backup documentation.
- Performs a variety of more complex analytical, budget, administrative, and accounting functions.
- Researches purchase order history and activity.
- Processes and reviews purchase requests for completeness and funding.
- Processes legal bills.
- Processes fiscal security deposits and toilet rebates.
- Provides administrative and technical assistance in the preparation and review of financial reports.
- Aids in the analysis of fund and account activity.
- Assists with research and provides applicable documentation for year-end closing processes.
- Supports research, analysis, data, and presentations.
- Prioritizes work and meets schedules and deadlines.
- Develops work goals and objectives for self.
Qualifications
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- High School Diploma or GED, with an Associate's Degree in finance, business, office administration, or a related field preferred.
- At least two (2) years of increasingly responsible financial and administrative support experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Excellent customer service skills over the phone and in-person.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in operating a personal computer with related software.
- Efficiently and accurately key information using a keyboard.

- Frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

- Hand/eye coordination for operation of computer and 10-key calculators.

Physical Demands
- Lights physical work lifting at least 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds with or without assistance.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of objects.
- Some walking and standing.
- Hand/eye coordination for operation of computer and 10-key calculators.
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with department personnel and citizens.
Work Environment
- Clean, comfortable environment.
- Standard office equipment including computer, calculator, multi-line telephones, and copy/fax machines.
- May occasionally use personal equipment (e.g., vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of employment.

- Essential Personnel: May be required to work as essential personnel during emergencies or disasters.
- Drug-Free Workplace: Maintains a drug-free workplace. A positive test of marijuana is grounds for disqualification and ineligibility for employment with the city for one year or termination once hired.
