About the role
The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is looking for a Staff Auditor II to assist with various financial audits performed on entities across state government, including institutions of higher education.
OSA is the state’s Fiscal Watchdog. We hold state government and entities that receive public money accountable, working on behalf of North Carolinians to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.
Responsibilities
- Participate in planning meetings for assigned audits where the team discusses audit risk and designs audit procedures to address the risks
- Conduct on-site fieldwork, including gaining an understanding of internal controls
- Review and analyze accounting transactions and perform test procedures on more complex audit areas
- Document the results of your work and any potential findings
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience in auditing/accounting OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills
- The ability to work on multiple projects at a time
- The ability to review and interpret laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and technical and professional standards
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to conduct interviews
