About the Role
The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health is seeking qualified Financial Specialist II professionals to support critical work related to the homelessness crisis. This role is ideal for financial professionals who thrive on analysis, problem-solving, systems improvement, and meaningful public service. You will analyze complex accounting, budgetary, and financial systems—and develop practical solutions that improve how departments manage resources.
- Analyze accounting, budgeting, fiscal controls, and financial systems.
- Evaluate financial operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop recommendations and internal controls to address financial issues.
- Prepare financial reports, policies, procedures, and supporting documentation.
- Help design, implement, test, and improve computerized financial systems.
- Translate manual accounting and recordkeeping processes into effective computerized systems.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus:
- 12 semester (18 quarter) units of accounting;
- 9 semester (13.5 quarter) additional units in accounting or finance; and
- 6 semester (9 quarter) units of computer science, including systems analysis and design.
Additionally, candidates must have two years of administrative, advisory, or staff-level experience resolving accounting, budgetary, or financial problems, including accounting systems design and implementation.
