About the role
The Tax Services Group at Withum consists of tax specialists who ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and minimize or defer tax payments. They provide comprehensive tax strategies across international, US federal, state, and local regulations, including business, individual, state & local tax, R&D Tax Credit, and international and private client services.
Responsibilities
- Review returns prepared by tax staff and/or seniors for accuracy
- Be involved in all aspects of financial services tax engagements, including hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, broker dealers, and management companies
- Research and draft memoranda involving complex tax matters
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities
- Handle and resolve tax controversies
- Oversee complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and diverse industries
- Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines
- Conduct constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and provide counsel accordingly
- Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA license, JD, or Masters of Science in Taxation
- At least 5 years of prior experience working in the tax department of a public accounting, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff
- Excellent analytical and technical tax skills
- Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
- Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the Firm well to client’s management
- Excellent analytical, organizational, project management skills, and strong attention to detail
Qualifications
- Experience in public accounting, particularly in tax departments
- Ability to handle multiple engagements simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to mentor and train junior staff

Pay
- Los Angeles: $150,000 - $200,000 annually
- San Francisco: $135,000 - $170,000 annually
