About the role

As a Manager in Tax Controversy, you will assist clients in navigating and resolving tax disputes. This involves conducting risk assessments, developing risk management strategies, and managing audits and legal proceedings. You will leverage EY's Tax Controversy Framework to ensure clients are prepared and informed throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting tax risk assessments to prevent controversies before they occur.
  • Supporting clients in devising comprehensive risk management strategies.
  • Managing tax audits and legal proceedings, including appeals and mediation.
  • Utilizing tax governance activities and technology tools to support the tax controversy lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (typically 4-year degree).
  • At least 4-6 years of relevant experience in government or professional tax organizations dealing with controversy matters.
  • Licensed attorney or CPA certification.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Experience in continuous process improvement and innovative solution development.
  • Proven ability to guide and supervise others.
  • Track record of meeting performance objectives and metrics.

Skills

  • Developing effective tax resolution strategies.
  • Translating complex data into client-ready insights.
  • Collaborating with non-tax professionals and clients.
  • Adapting work styles to work with both internal and client team members.
  • Leading workstream delivery and managing engagement economics.

  • Competitive base salary range ($103,600 to $189,900 in the US, $124,300 to $215,800 in certain locations).
