About the role
The Financial Service Officer (FSO) delivers a high level of member service by building strong relationships and providing comprehensive financial solutions that meet member and employee needs. This role assists members with a wide range of financial transactions and services, serving as a trusted advisor to improve members' financial well-being, support credit union growth, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provides professional, courteous, and personalized service while building strong member relationships.
- Assists members with financial transactions, including opening, maintaining, and closing consumer and commercial accounts.
- Answers questions about products and services and collaborates with business partners to discover member solutions.
- Conducts meaningful conversations to assess borrowing needs and recommends appropriate loan and ancillary products.
- Guides members through the consumer loan application process, identifying opportunities to deepen relationships.
- Adheres to lending guidelines and communicates loan decisions, including approval terms, denial reasons, payment options, and requirements.
- Assists members with teller transactions, providing accurate, efficient, and professional service.
- Maintains knowledge of fraud trends and prevention practices to identify and mitigate risks.
- Processes transactions within established authority limits and collaborates with coworkers to support branch operations.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of documentation, reviewing system information, supporting documents, disclosures, and agreements.
- Verifies member information for compliance with credit union policies, regulatory requirements, and procedures.
- Demonstrates awareness of physical security and member privacy by safeguarding confidential information and adhering to security procedures.
- Promotes and supports branch and credit union initiatives, participating in sales, service, and operational goals.
- Contributes to team success and fosters member engagement through advocacy of credit union products, services, and community involvement.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of customer service and/or sales experience is required.
- Minimum 1 year of lending experience is preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of financial services experience is preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
