Financial Services Field Internship

About the role

Thrivent is dedicated to helping people make the most of their resources through financial advice, investments, insurance, banking, and generosity programs. The Field Internship offers the chance to shadow seasoned financial advisors, engage in a comprehensive training program with fellow interns, and support Thrivent’s community and generosity initiatives. Interns gain experience in case analysis, industry‑specific programs, critical‑thinking exercises, career‑development best practices, marketing tactics, and real‑world training.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a robust orientation and training program.
• Shadow financial advisors during client meetings, workshops, community events, and daily work.
• Learn to prepare financial plans and analyses.
• Gain exposure to MoneyGuidePro, Morningstar, and other financial planning software platforms.
• Attend team meetings that include weekly activity updates, new trends, and concepts.
• Observe regional seminars and workshops.
• Attend virtual seminars with corporate employees to deepen industry and professional understanding.
• Work with the Engagement Team to develop strategies for integrating Thrivent’s generosity programs.
• Collaborate with other interns to research and present a project on best practices for building a financial services business.

Qualifications

• College junior or senior pursuing a degree in business, finance, marketing, or a related field.
• Strong technical computer aptitude and proficiency with business tools (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Course Credit

Thrivent internships may be available for course credit, provided the arrangement is coordinated with your school administration.
